The Last Sister by Kendra Elliot is a mystery I recently read with my online book club. It is the first of a series called Columbia River.
The protagonist, Emily Mills found her father’s murdered body hanging in their backyard 20 years ago. This horrible tragedy caused her mother to take her own life, leaving Emily and her sisters, Tara and Madison without parents. Their three aunts, who are interesting characters, are left to care for them. Tara fled immediately. Their father's murderer has been caught and is in jail. Emily and her sister Madison just want to put everything behind them and continue living their lives.
Except now another similar murder has taken place and the FBI agent that has come to investigate believes it has to be connected, but how?
This book is about racism, secrets, loss and healing.
Some are calling this book a suspense romance. I found it to not be very suspenseful and the romance to be non-existent or the writing of it to be very weak.
That’s not to say that there won’t be a romance as the series continues.
