Verity by Colleen Hoover

I have finally read a book by CoHo as her fans affectionately call Colleen Hoover.

Verity was quite a ride and I had heard so much hype about it that when my online book club chose to read it in June, I was happy to delve into it.

This thriller begins with a shocking accident and that is how we meet Lowen and Jeremy. Their meet cute is odd and brings us quickly to how they will stay connected. Lowen is a writer and Jeremy's wife, Verity is also a writer. Jeremy is looking for someone to finish Verity's series because she is no longer able to for medical reasons. Lowen takes the job and while she is searching Verity's office, comes across a manuscript that is more of an autobiography.

Through the autobiography and the time she spends with Jeremy she is learning more about Jeremy and his family, but what she learns is anything but pleasant.

This book takes many twists and turns and has so much uncertainty that I'm still not sure what I believe. That's the whole point though, and Hoover does it very well in Verity. There are a few implausible situations, but nothing that held me back from the actual story. I know that this book is different than Hoover's usual romance books and I'm not sure why she chose to self publish this one, but I am definitely going to read more of her work.

There are explicit sex scenes and language that some might find bothersome. If that doesn't bother you and you are looking for something a little different and psychologically creepy, then check this out.
